Well, here we go! One giant leap into the blogesphere. I've been reading and posting on blogs fora while now and finally decided it was time to join the fun. More than that, it gives me an outlet for discussing my passion and in some small way is a gift to my family and friends who are sick and tired of hearing me talk about Great Britain! ;)I've been fascinated by the eighth largest island in the world since I was a teenager. I discovered the Rolling Stones around age 13 and inhaled everything about them. I loved they way they spoke, their sense of humour, how they dressed and of course the music. In turn I learned of the British invasion and then the passion just exploded. I loved looking at photos of London in the swinging 60's and wished I was there. Later I discovered British film and great British telly like "The Young Ones" and "Monty Python's Flying Circus." The interest just grew and grew. I dreamt of Britain quite a bit and in my mind, I must admit, I felt like I was there already. My dream came true at the age of twenty when I was posted to England with the US Air Force. I lived there for the next three years and did a lot of growing up. I won't say it was all a bed of roses but I still look back on that time with great fondness. I may have left Britain but Britain hasn't left me. Recently, through family research, I discovered that nearly 80% of my heritage is Scots/English. So there you are. It's in the blood, literally. So this blog is an attempt to scratch the itch. I hope you enjoy it and join in from time to time to share in the scratching!circa 1988
